Wobbly Circles Tote...FINISHED!

Finally figured out how to make time for knitting, kids, and spanish class. I turned off the TV. This isn't meant to be revelatory or anything, I know many people who have made the conscious choice to jettison their TV and are happier for it. I don't want to chuck it completely, because there is 'The Office' to consider. But that can be Tivo'd and set aside while I try to learn a new language and finish some knitting projects that I started last year. And there is the yarn swap we've got coming up. I just bought some sock yarn for my lucky recipient, and let's just say I think she is going to be one happy knitter. So, onto the knitting stuff.

Behold the Wobbly Circles Tote! It's only taken me over a year to finish it (hey, it was a good TV year what with the Sopranos and Deadwood). I got so sick of looking at it that I shoved it into a bag and even thought about not finishing it. For a loooooong time. I don't know what revived my will to finish it, but here it is in all its glory, a birthday present for my very best friend in the whole wide world. Shockingly, her birthday is in December, not "last month." You are witnessing history, people.

I miss Deadwood.

The tote turned out great! Isn't it fun to finish something you've been working on for so long?

I love it!

It's so funny, I would never get any knitting done without the TV. That's prime knitting time for me. Tivo'd shows and knitting after the kids are in bed. They'd have to commit me otherwise. lol

I love it!

LOL Dani...me, too! I knit while watching CSI after the kiddos go to bed, pausing long enough to fast forward through the commercials. Although sometimes I get so wrapped up in the knitting that I forget to skip the commercials!

You are totally one to me, we don't even have cable anymore. We ditched it after we realized that we never watch it, and then when it is on we veg, get sucked and and don't do shit. I would knit and watch TV often, but is was more background noise than anything else.

Another fun thing, books on tape. I can't believe I just said fun, and books on tape in the same sentence but seriously. Bill and I hang out and snuggle up, I knit, he plays on his iMac and we listen to books. Sometimes we even light a candle. Boy, we are so cool.

Anyway, the bag. The bag is very cool.

PS. You can watch the office online at NBC. Then you don't need cable.

PSS Also, Friday Night Lights, you can watch that through your computer too.

Thanks, peeps! I'm feeling the love.

LeaAnna, I can't tell you how many times I have also forgotten to FWD through the commercials. And I usually remember just as the show is about to start back up, hit the FWD, and end up skipping the first few seconds of the show. Then we have to rewind and end up watching the one commercial we were skipping. It's a vicious circle.

Pez, I have a recommendation for Bill's and your Candlelight Literary Evenings: "The Partly Cloudy Patriot" by Sarah Vowell. She is really, really funny. I bought it when I had to have some sort of radiological imaging this past summer, and was expected to lie very still for an hour and a half. Remarkably, the results were readable despite the fact I spent half my time in the machine shaking with laughter. Get it!

I also liked Bill Bryson's latest. So much so that I have forgotten the title. I liked Sarah Vowell better, because she is really smart, quick, quirky (her vacation choices are really unusual) AND funny, but Bryson is still some entertaining listening.

Got any recommendations? I need something light but interesting. NO FICTION.

Love that tote.
However, can't turn off my TV, it is what keeps me going as I knit contantly.
However, I wouldn;t want to watch TV and not have something in my hands to do that is useful.
