Clapotis, Take 2

The original plan was to make Clapotis with some Claudia's Handpainted Yarn (Plumilicious) and carry it with some KidSilk Night. Unfortunately, the Kidsilk is too dark and muting the beautiful browns and dark purples in the other yarn.

Personally, I like it, but I know my mother will hate it. It's too close to black, and she has not worn black since she was a nun. Yes, you read that right: a nun. She was a novitiate for four years and decided to bail out before her final vows. Thank the God I don't believe in for that. There are some great pictures of her in a penguin suit, though, so it wasn't a total waste. So, understandably she equates dark colors with oppression, subserviance and itchy polyester habits. I decided to knit it with only the Claudia's, and the effect is much nicer.

In other knit news, I found a gorgeous brown silk to carry with the Tilli Tomas yarn I got at Maryland Sheep and Wool. It's going to make a fantastic scarf. I am thinking of a very simple pattern--any suggestions, peeps?

Please note how I am not going to remark on the previous post's mention (and photo) of crocs. I will say this: i do love that gnome. Oh, not that Pez would ever make fun of me for this, but I spent the better part of yesterday trying to figure out who "Dee" was. I am not kidding. I think any criticism of footwear is negated at this point.

LOL! Who did you think the previous "Dee" post were? I like the Clapotis much better without the Haze. For the Tilli yarn, I think I'd do maybe something liken the dream swatch pattern on knitand tonic.

Okay, dude, in my defense, this "Dee" person is listed as "La Pez" on the list. And I think of Deva as Pez, not as "Dee" which makes me imagine Olivia Newton John singing "Summer Nights" instead of Pezzy wearing Crocs and knitting washcloths. I actually thought Dee was short for Dani at first. And then I thought, "Oh, that must be DeeAnna." Until I realized we have a LeeAnna. Duh.

I added a blog to the Favorites list, by the way. There is a pirate hat on the blog I am destined to make.

Okay, this is when I get all Southern on your ass and say 'Bless her heart, she means well' LOL

And I'm not so sure about taking fashion advice from the lady who walks around with a parasol;)(Um, you know this is all in fun ribbing, I wear a full on SPF suit in the pool and I come from people who are supposed to be very dark. And those legs in the last pic, they are slathered in *gasp* chemical sunscreen!)

I'll need to see more of this Clapotis, I feel like the last knitter alive who has yet to knit it. I do love the way your new Clapotis is looking

I haven't yet knit it Deva, I'm way behind.

I like the change you made Gina, it's looking beautiful. Plus I found out a fun fact about your mom.

The new yarn is beautiful - I'm so jealous of your new stash. I have a pattern for an Irish Hiking scarf - cables - but that's probably too easy for you.
