Morning MeMe #4

I am an occasional contributor, but a constant (albeit very slow and time limited) knitter. I love to crochet (gasp!) too. Actually any kind of craft I can find time and/or money for is fair game to me. :D I have to craft.

I'm relatively new to this knitting thing, although I've been a needle crafter for years. I enjoy it, but cannot seem to find enough time for it with three kids and their activities. I knit at the ball fields, in the pick-up line, in the car, at the soccer fields, at chorus concerts, and at PTO meetings! ;) and yes, I've been called "Granny" before for it!

Mark with bold the things you have ever knit, with italics the ones you plan to do sometime, and leave the rest

Time is sort of the hot button issue, isn't it. Sometimes people will saying 'Wow, you sure have a lot of time on your hands'. Um, no, no more time then you have. It is about squeezing in those moments, huh? Well, that and delegating the driving and other boring work.

I will say, one of the best things ever is being able to knit and read. It has totally changed my life. I just finished reading 'Kitchen Confidential' by Anthony Bourdain it was my 'knitting while reading book'. I can't hang with reading anything too deep while knitting but fun fluff books are perfect for knitting. Give it a try, it may work for you too.

So tell me, how do you read and knit? I can't figure out how to situate the book so I can knit.

I read and knit at my kitchen table. Our dining room connects to our 'homeschool' room so while the kids bop around in there I can sit at the table and knit.

I sort of hold my knitting and book open at the same time. Maybe you should come over and I can show you ;) I also knit while on my laptop - it is a great way to read blogs LOL. Guess this is why I am a lurker on most blogs. And I don't really look down at my knitting when it is just stocking stitch, I use my fingers to 'tell' me where I am at.

I am going to stop now before you all think I am totally crazy insane.

Yes, Shannon! That is your fairy- have you named her yet? I haven't made one for me yet.

I do read and knit. I found a Yarn Harlot book at the thrift shop and I only read that while I knit. I usually prop the book open on the table or my lap while I knit. I too, don't really look at my knitting when I read, except if I need to count. ;)

I am sure I would have more knitting time if I didn't do other crafts and if I were a better housekeeper, so I didn't alwasy have 10 things going on at once! ;)
